61 Years of Love

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Last Saturday while photographing my cousin’s wedding, I looked over to see my grandfather leading my grandmother out to the dance floor. Which is a rare occasion, as the last time they danced together was at my wedding four years ago. I positioned my camera to document the moment…

And then I lost it…Big, alligator sized tears welled up in my eyes.

It was the most beautiful sight. These two people have loved each other, life and their family like no other. I was looking at the living definition of what true love is. That kind of love is so precious, so rare. It brought tears to my eyes in that moment and as I am writing this post now. I don’t know how I got to be so lucky to be surrounded by that kind of unconditional love.

I will cherish this moment for the rest of my life.

What do puppies dream of?

Monday, March 5th, 2012

I’m not really sure when it happened, but the dogs just somehow claimed the couch as their official nap place because lets face it…Life is hard out there..for a puppy. The daily stresses of who wins tug-o-war…who runs the fastest…gets the most pets…has the comfiest spot on the couch…takes a toll.

So if you need Sammie and Olive for anything you’ll have to leave a message with their secretary because..THEY’RE TOO BUSY SLEEPING!

It’s a rough life.

Cabo Pulmo, Mexico : Part IV

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

How do you capture a moment, a feeling…in words…or even in pictures? It seems like I’ve been trying to do that my entire life…am still trying…will never stop trying.

It’s Day 5 of our 7 day vacation. A vacation that feels like one part adventure, one part eating extravaganza and one part (the best part) becoming even more close to my friends…. to Milan.

I’m sitting on a lawn chair, on a patio layered in brown tile, dusted with the white sand from 20 yards in front of me relocated by the much needed tropical breeze. To say it is hot here in Cabo Pulmo, Mexico would be a gross understatement. But none of us really care.

The view is everything and more than what I thought it would be. And there is not a soul around. It’s like living in a post card…if the post card had beetles the size of my fist, cockroaches that are bigger than my dog and wasps that love to show up whenever we decide to lay down and read a book.

I snorkeled.

Which those two words probably don’t deserve to be a paragraph unto themselves except that – I have a phobia of deep water. With the help of my friend Julie I was able to slowly overcome my fear. Her patience and kindness still moves me. She held my hand, gave me her snorkel and most of all made me feel okay to be in the ocean. She eased my anxiety and allowed me to start to see the vast beauty of the ocean. Other wordily beauty. For that I am eternally grateful.

…And there was comedy. Lots of it. Maybe not the most sophisticated but absolutely hysterical. Brent singing in Spanish, the few random Spanish words he knows…completely butchering the language, had to be the funniest thing ever. Milan answering almost every question with ‘tambien’ knowing full well that it wasn’t the right answer just to see me smile.

yeah, we’re expressive…

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

I tasked my assistants (among their other mass amounts of duties…) to capture the three of us in action. Action being the key word here. Now I was aware that I made strange gestures….just not the level of strange. Oh, and lets not mention the array of odd facial expressions.
Case in point…What am I doing here? Yes, I know that I am arranging a bridal party, but in reality it looks like I am…going to catch some very expensive object…or…directing people to the various exists to your left in case of emergency? Either way it makes me laugh :) So thank you Elizabeth for capturing me and all of my…expressiveness.

And then there is Michelle, who always has a big smile on her face. In my mind when I look at this picture I can hear ‘BING’ that sound on the toothpaste commercial that lets you know that the models teeth are extra white.

Michelle Wiggley

To be quite honest, I’m not sure what Elizabeth is doing…I’d like to think that she is belting out at the top of her lungs “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey, but that wouldn’t be her….that would be me doing that… :)

Elizabeth

The night would just not be complete with out a photo booth picture. A BIG THANK YOU to Stuart the groom from the wedding we shot on Saturday for having the photo booth company re-open. WOW. Thank you.

Shannon Rosan, Elizabeth Quivey & Michelle Wiggley

So, thank you, Michelle and Elizabeth for being awesome assistants, photographers and best of all amazing friends. Until next time girls…

In the mean time, stay tuned for the wedding of Andrea & Stuart coming soon!!!

Changes to Website

Monday, May 10th, 2010

I am SUPER excited to announce that in following days I will be launching my new website! Same url, shannonrosan.com – BUT with a brand new look.

In the mean time I wanted to give a warning that in those next few days my blog and website may have some errors or not show up. I’m hoping that this won’t occur, but in the past whenever I’ve made drastic changes…something seems to break :(

Also, if by chance you subscribe via RSS feed, Google Reader or the like…the feed is probably going to break and you will have to resubscribe when the changes have occurred. I apologize for any inconvenience.

I can’t wait for the new site….coming soon!!!!

Monday Meanderings…

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Sammie strikes again…I walk past our bathroom and I catch a glimpse of a long white stream of paper, and I think to myself, huh, that’s odd. I enter and turn on the light to find, the puppy perpetrator herself, proud of her accomplishment of tp’ing our bathroom. I guess I should have been mad that our destructive terrier struck again, but it was just too funny of a sight. I told Milan to take a look at our new bathroom decorations-he saw and quickly grabbed our point and shoot as fast as possible before the scene disappeared. Thank you Milan for documenting another puppy event :)
