Kiera : A Birth Story

This weekend I had the great honor of documenting a very moving and emotional moment. The birth of lil’ baby – Kiera.

I arrived at Feather River Hospital with what seemed like all of my gear, lets just say I was waaay over prepared as far as equipment was concerned. But I could never have been prepared for the powerful emotions that comes with the miracle of life.

Witnessing the immense support and love given by family and friends. The unbelievable strength that Kiera’s mother, Sheila had through get this – 44 hours of labor with ZERO pain medication. It was unreal how brave she was – is. And throughout all the painful contractions her husband, Jeff and good friend, Katrina were there coaching her through it all with out sleeping for 2 days. Not to mention the caring family and friend’s patiently waiting in the lobby with out any sleep either.

And then it was time.

As I waited outside of the delivery room while the doctors and nurses helped deliver the baby, I held my breath until I heard the cries of a newly born baby. Tears were shed as we heard it was a girl. In fact I’m still getting teary eyed about the whole thing as I write this.
